Hodsock snowdrops - February half-term 2007

Strictly speaking only Jacqui gets a 'half-term' holiday but Roger took Friday off as well and we drove up the M1 in the rain to Hodsock Priory assuming we would be the only people there.

But the place was busy with people paying their £4 to tour the grounds.

After negotiating an Ikea-like path round the grounds you are invited to tour the snowdrop woods.

Half way round we were happy to discover a bonfire to warm up by.

There were several places where the winter wind had caused havoc and brought trees down.

One of the larger trees fell onto the beehives so all of the bees had to be re-housed in a hurry

Imagine a bluebell wood turned white!

Although the snowdrops have no scent, Jacqui did come away with a memory of the scent of witch hazel
