The Big Picture

Centred on Emmanuel Church in Holy Week, this is the Passion story told in pictures by volunteers contributing panels in paint-by-numbers fashion in an attempt to break the record and get into the Guinness Book of Records

Passover Supper 2008

Mum offered to host a Passover Supper for her Cell Group which got expanded to include partners, so we had a pretty full room!

Not all the guest ate lamb, so we also served sheep-pig. Most were a bit suspicious of the haroset. And the youngest guest (Grace 18mths) was very well behaved. More pictures...

Temple of Venus

In response to the interest shown in the "Cleopatra's Needle" blog, I show a first picture of the Temple of Venus as seen from the car travelling from M1 jn 23 to the University.

The story is that one of the De Lisle family came back from a grand tour and set about building follies on the family estate as a reminder of the trip.

Mother's day

A happy Mum

A larger than normal mother's day gift

Nana putting on a brave face for the camera

Cleopatra's Needle

Just over 5min walk from the house, at the edge of the De Lisle Esatate is this obelisk

It has always looked as though it is about to crumble, and because it seems to be supported just by 4 balls it looks as if it should topple under the slightest wind.

I would like to photograph the Temple of Venus next, but I don't know of a legitimate path to get there!

The Barn Dance Band

Talk about keep it in the family - here is the Dawson barn dance band in full flow - in a small village hall in rural Leicestershire - in the cold snap when the outside evening temperature was ~-5C

The highlight of the evening was the unexpected 'after supper' entertainment by a visiting choir.
