Jersey in Polythene
Years ago the holiday advertising would have read: "Come and see Jersey in bloom" - but if you go at Easter time you will see "Jersey in polythene". From the air it looks as though the whole island has been flooded because all the fields of Jersey Royals are completely covered in polythene.
But our main target was to reacquaint ourselves with the beaches and so we hired this Ka to get us round. We took "Jane" along and found her very helpful in finding the hotel and one or two other places when the Jersey road signs were a bit vague. Here you can see Grosnez Castle in the background.
Our first beach stop was St Ouen and you can begin to see what we had to put up with in terms of crowded beaches!
One rare trip to an inland site was to Jersey Gold and its rather surprising Red Squirrel sanctuary and Flamingo Park - the three flamingos posed more helpfully than the one squirrel.
On the last morning it seemed that the only piece of coast we had not revisited was Corbiere and as the tide was out we were able to walk across the causeway to the lighthouse.
Just one more lingering look at St Ouen's Bay before catching the airplane home. On a flight scheduled for 70 min we arrived 25 min early (to the consternation of our 'taxi' driver).
