My mother in law told me she would buy me a new pair of running shoes for my birthday (that was nearly 4 months ago) and today I have actually got myself organised and gone and bought some. For the technically minded they are Saucony brand.
My running partner says we got within seconds of our best time today after being very slow for weeks - so either the shoes or the weather conditions really made a difference.
I did like a pair of New Balance shoes initially but the shop assistant and I decided they were too small and she did not have the larger size. She brought me the larger size in the 'new version' but it was a very inferior shoe (in my opinion). So I looked for other shoes and chose the Saucony. In the afternoon I got a telephone message from the shop saying that someone who had taken two pairs away to choose between sizes had brought one pair back and they were exactly the larger size that I needed. But by then I had already run in the others so no swap possible. Ah well - it was very nice of them to track me down with the message - I think all they had to go on was my credit card details and 'university'.

It will have been a youngish person who tried to track you down? Stalking is becoming a very common practice without even trying thanks to the use of technology and Facebook.
From the photo it looks like these would be too small for you.
Well done on the near personal best time!
